Contented, easy to support, Not busy, frugal in his ways, Restrained in his senses and modest Not arrogant or greedy among the people Let him not do the slighest thing That the wise would later reprove ŅMay they be happy and safe! May all beings have happiness! Whatever living beings there may be Weak or strong, omitting none, Tall and great Medium, small or tiny The seen and the unseen, Those living near or far away, Those born and those subject to birth May all beings have happiness! Let none deceive another Nor despise any being at all. Let them not have anger or hatred Nor wish one another harmÓ Just like a mother and her child; As she guards with her life her only child. So should we cherish all beings Let us develop a boundless mind. Loving-kindness for all the world; Let us develop a boundless mind. Above, below and all around Unbound, without hatred or malice. Standing or walking Seated or lying down free from drowsiness One should remain steady in this recollection; This is said to be the Divine Abiding. One not following false views, Possessed of virtue and vision, Being freed from sense desires, Is not born again in any womb.
