Aug 08, 2007 I've posted a longish article which attempts to establish some points of Buddhist metaphysics with intellectual rigour; "The Soul in Buddhism ". (The odd title is explained in an explanatory note) This has been published in the summer '07 issue of the Right View Quarterly, journal of the MIddle America Buddhist Association. The whole journal can be downloaded as .pdf from MABA's site.

May 17, 2007 A real treat for Arrow River old-timers. We have posted an MP3 version of the only known recording of the group chanting we used to do here under Kema Ananda. This is the Tibetan Vajra Guru mantra, chanted by a group together with Kema on the surbohar. Go to the page on Kema's teachings and scroll to the bottom for the audio link. Enjoy.

Sep 28, 2005It's been a while since I did any updates to the site proper; although the blog has been getting some attention. We're looking at moving to a new server, hopefully soon, and I should also have a bit more time after the firewood is in. There's news and other things I want to post. In the meantime, here are my last three Toronto Star columns;

  1. Good Government Canadian readers will remember the crazy parliamentary scenes this last spring. Or maybe not. In any case, it inspired this piece using the ten Raja Dhammas as a reference
  2. Easter Island An essay on saving the environment through contentment with little, making reference to the very discontented history of Easter Island.
  3. Karma and Katrina How the Buddhist doctrine of karma might play out in cases of natural disasters like Katrina.

June 1, 2005 Catching up a bit here. Three more Toronto Star columns posted;

  1. Same sex marriage
  2. Anniversary of thefire-bombing of Dresden
  3. Terry Schiavo

Also the spring 2005 newsletter is available to download as a pdf document.
